Hi, I’m KLONDIKE!

Adventure-seeking, nose-following, smart, and playful Husky seeks forever guardian(s) to adventure with, play with, and snuggle! Klondike is our 62 lb, about 4-year-old Husky fella who *loves* a sniffing adventure and would likely excel in a nosework class with his guardian. He has gone on hikes with staff and loves the adventure. He loves his enrichment—both mental and physical—as well as a nice nap after his needs are met. He’s an active guy looking for an active home with a fenced yard. He’s done so well in our yards here at POOCH—he’s never tried to go over or under the fences, which is A+++ for a Husky! He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccinations.

MORE ABOUT KLONDIKE

Being the smarty pants that I am, my friends here at POOCH are helping me be my best self through appropriate enrichment: playing, sniffing, shredding, brain games, food dispensing toys, and learning! I have done well playing with my dog friend here at POOCH, so if you have another dog we could see if we can be friends, or I could be your one and only as well—I’m a flexible fella! I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of my vaccinations. If you’re ready to be adventurous together, meet my amazingly special mental needs, and be rewarded with lots of love and fur on your clothes, fill out an application to be my forever person today!

Tails from the Trail

From Gabi Urbani, Project POOCH Lead Trainer

Outdoorsy doggo seeks outdoorsy human to outdoorsy with, and then cuddle .3 on the couch when outdoorsy is done! I took Klondike on his first hike today as part of his training, enrichment, and just for a change of scenery, and he was *amazing*!! The ride in the car he laid in the backseat calmly and quietly. Once we got to the hiking spot, he was calm when other dogs and their guardians walked past our car. I walked him on a harness and a 10-foot leash—close enough to be together and reinforce his check in's (this boy loves string cheese!), yet there was enough space for him to get to do dog things to his heart's content. He had the *best* time sniffing all of the things! He got to choose which trails to take, what trees and plants to sniff, got reinforced for checking in with me, met strangers (who he sat in front of and politely asked for pets), saw other dogs on walks and did great, and had the best time being a fantastic hiking partner. Sometimes he wanted to walk slower to check things out, and sometimes he wanted to walk faster while following a scent, and not once did he yank me around. Once back at the kennel, he was relaxed due to having so many of his needs met on our hike. He's a gem of a husky—get an app in for him today and go hiking together soon!
